Ortiz paces Rogues past Heat
In only his second game since returning to the Medford Rogues from school, Omar Ortiz collected four hits to lead the way in 16-5 win over the Sacramento Heat Sunday at Harry & David Field.
The victory, called in the eighth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule, improved Medford to 10-2. They play at the Reno Rams Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ortiz was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a run for the Rogues, who built an 8-4 lead through three innings and tacked on four more runs in the sixth.
Drew Steelhammer was 3-for-6 with two RBIs and three runs, and Jake Gentry was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for Medford. Jason Dumont added two hits and four runs and Grant Sherrod two hits and two runs.
Raul Soria was 2-for-4 to pace Sacramento.
