PREP ROUNDUP: Doell-McAllister tandem paces Panthers

South Medford rolled up three wins in singles and four in doubles to snag a 7-1 girls tennis victory over Grants Pass Tuesday at South Medford High.

The Panthers’ top doubles team of Emerie Doell and Sarah McAllister cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Lauren Robinson and Paige Pastrell.

Grants Pass logged its lone win at No. 1 singles, with An Mei Goei downing Maggie VonStrahl, 6-0, 6-1.

The Grizzlies’ Harper Wells triumphed at No. 1 singles, dispatching Hadley Dunlevy, 6-2, 6-4.

At No. 1 doubles, Ashland’s Sofia Shelton and Talia Vivrett posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Shelly and Hayley Chung.

Boys Golf

ST. MARY’S WINS: At McKenzie Bridge, St. Mary’s Bryce Stiemert shot a 71 to run away with the individual title and lead the Crusaders to first place in a six-team tournament at Tokatee Golf Club Monday.

Stiemert’s score was 1 under par. Teammates Brock Drury and Owen Bernard tied for second with 80s.

The Crusaders’ score of 314 was their second best of the season.

Track and Field

ST. MARY’S SWEEPS: At Cave Junction, Jonah Hadley had a part in four wins, helping the St. Mary’s boys to 12 victories in 17 events in a dominant performance at Illinois Valley’s Janie Pope Memorial meet.

The Crusaders scored 177 points to runner-up Hidden Valley’s 83.

Meanwhile, the Crusader girls triumphed, outdistancing runner-up Hidden Valley, 156-124.

Hadley captured the 200 meters in 23.76 seconds and the 400 in 52.68. He also ran legs of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

In the short relay, Hadley teamed with Matthew Wyant, Kayden Walker and Luke Bennion for a time of 46.74 seconds. In the long relay, the same quartet went 3:45.75.

Rogue River’s Samuel Haag won the javelin at 117-8 1/2 and the long jump at 18-4.

In the girls meet, St. Mary’s Sidney DeBoer won the 400 (1:03.09) and the triple jump (31-7) and ran on both winning relays. She teamed with Lila Reed, Mackenzie Walker and Jensyn Ford to win the 4x100 in 52.73 and the 4x400 in 4:20.56.
