A pilot died Sunday when his single-engine plane crashed, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

There were no other occupants in the aircraft.

The plane went down at 2:55 p.m. in the 1500 block on Jones Road and appears to have been stopped by some trees. The homeowner called dispatch to report the incident.

The plane barely cleared the house.

A small grass fire ignited as a result of the crash but residents and Oregon Department of Forestry were able to quickly extinguish flames.

The identity of the pilot has not yet been released.
