Rogues pitchers extend scoreless streak
Four Medford Rogues pitchers combined on a shutout to run the team’s scoreless innings streak to 23 straight at home during a 6-0 win over the Cascade Collegiate League All-Stars Tuesday at Harry & David Field.
Griffin Henry picked up the pitching victory after allowing only one hit with no walks and six strikeouts in four innings, with Matt Ager following with three solid innings that saw the UC Santa Barbara prospect allow two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Carson Lydon and Sebasten Boivin each pitched one scoreless inning apiece to clinch the victory for the Rogues (6-1), who will host the CCL All-Stars again at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.
Crosby Albee got Medford off to a good start offensively with a leadoff solo home run in the second inning, and Jackson Hall also hit a leadoff home run in the fourth to make it 2-0. Albee, from West Salem High, will be an incoming freshman at the University of Oregon.
The Rogues broke the game open with three runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Drew Steelhammer and sacrifice fly RBIs from Jake Gentry, who went 2-for-3, and Hall.
Medford tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning on an RBI single by newcomer Jesse Brown, another UC Santa Barbara player.
