OIT pins another 1-0 loss on SOU
KLAMATH FALLS — Oregon Tech defeated Southern Oregon 1-0 for the second day in a row Monday afternoon at OIT Soccer Field, getting a 56th-minute goal from Abigail Herbert to stay on top of the Cascade Conference West Division standings.
The Raiders fell to 4-3-1 and will finish their spring schedule at home April 5-6 against Corban, which is tied with the Owls for first place. OIT improved to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play heading into its final regular season games against Northwest (Wash.).
Herbert’s seventh goal of the season was set up by a Nyah Kendall cross that went down as her third assist.
The Owls out-shot SOU, 19-4. After three periods without one, though, the Raiders posted three shots on goal in the second half. Kiani Pandoliano had two and Mia Santander the other, but OIT keeper Alyx Burkhartzmeyer made three saves for the shutout.
Ashlynn Hernandez saved four shots for the Raiders.
The clean sheet was the eighth turned in by OIT in 10 games.
