Grizzlies rebound, beat North Eugene 35-7
EUGENE— Sixth-ranked Ashland pulled away in the third quarter to get back on the winning track in the Midwestern League with a 35-7 win over North Eugene on Friday night.
The Grizzlies (7-1, 3-1 MWL) led 14-7 at halftime, then took advantage of a two second-half turnovers and a couple of fourth-down stops after the Highlanders got into Ashland territory in the fourth quarter.
Nolan Rinefort had the interception, and the Grizzlies recovered a fumble.
Rieger Sayre passed for three touchdowns, including two to Nathan Carter of 45 and 23 yards. Logan Sanford reeled in the other from 5 yards.
The senior quarterback also ran for a 5-yard score.
DaMario Watson added a rushing touchdowns of 9 yards.
Sayre was 13 of 22 for 196 yards. He wasn’t intercepted.
Watson ripped off 204 yards on the ground on 19 carries.
Carter had four catches for 108 yards.
